A Breathtaking Cinematography in Burger's Divergent (2014)

Divergent is an American action film directed by Neil Burger based on a novel written by Veronica Roth. This film is starred by Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Ashley Judd with screenplay by Evan Daugherty and Vanessa Taylor.⁽¹⁾ 

Divergent was first released on March 21^th 2014 in United States with 139 minutes duration. This film achieves highest grossing in box office and always stays in the top ranking since its first week.⁽²⁾

This movie has a breathtaking cinematography. It is very attractive from the beginning until the end. Moreover, the action in this film is challenging and the stunts are absolutely terrific. Both the cinematography and the action are capable of bringing people who watch it absorbed into the film, for it seems like a reality.

The film takes place in Chicago where people divided into five diverse factions based on their dominant character traits. Beatrice Prior (Shailene Woodley) does not fit into those factions because she is a divergent, a human with more than one dominant traits.

The movie begins with an introduction of futuristic Chicago. It is very different from our world. People are divided into five factions, they are Abnegation (the selfless), Amity (the peaceful), Candor (the honest), Dauntless (the brave), and Erudite (the intellectual). When children reach 16 years old, they have to choose those factions at Choosing Ceremony. Actually, Beatrice Prior has an Abnegation background, but she chooses Dauntless. However, when she takes a test before the Choosing Ceremony, she is actually a divergent. The tester, Tori Wu, asks her to keep it a secret.Throughout the film, it is revealed that certain factions want to take over other factions. They are ready to do whatever it takes. Only divergent is able to ruin their plan and restore the peace.

The action scenes in this film are very natural and attractive. Moreover, the actors managed to portray the character perfectly. The screenplay order is also very incredible such as when Tris jumps into a dark hole and train. The scenes look very real. There are many violent scenes such as blood and fighting. There are also kissing scenes.⁽³⁾ Also, this movis is good for adult start from seventeen ages from them.

Overall, this film is breathtaking. It is recommended for those who love action film. Me, as a reviewer think that this film is very challenging. You can get something that makes you feel exited if you keep focus on it.
